Joanne Uyede is the president and CEO of the Canadian Education Centre Network (CEC Network), a non-profit organization that promotes and markets Canada as a study destination for international students. The CEC Network carries out its mandate through its 14 Canadian Education Centres and 5 sub-offices around the world, providing international students with materials and application forms for hundreds of Canadian institutions. The centres also offer counselling for students, helping them find the best institution to fulfil their needs.
Since the establishment of the CEC Network in 1995, Uyede has been actively involved in the growth and development of the centre. She has held the positions of assistant director of marketing, director of marketing, both in Eastern and Atlantic Canada, and executive vice-president of operations.
The CEC Network has Uyede to thank for the creation and success of the Agent Fair and the International Education Conference. These events bring clients, institutions and staff together every year to promote Canada as the prime destination for high quality education. Uyede is also the creator of the Go Abroad Fair, an annual event that takes place in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal, and brings education representatives from around the world to encourage Canadian students to go abroad.
