Richard Mahoney

Richard Mahoney brings extensive knowledge of government operations and regulations to his position as counsel for Ensight Canada.
As a practicing lawyer, Mahoney has represented clients from multiple sectors including telecommunications, broadcasting, film production, natural resources, renewable fuels and alternative energy, transportation, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, high technology and financial services. Mahoney has been a partner and counsel at one of Canada’s leading national law firms, building and heading that firm’s public policy practice for many years.
Mahoney served as senior vice-president of Borealis Capital Corporation from 2001 until 2004, when he resigned to seek elected office as the federal Liberal candidate in Ottawa Centre.
Mahoney is a former executive assistant to former prime minister Paul Martin. He has exceptional experience in Canada’s governing process, including service as a special assistant to the former prime minister John Turner, as well as to former finance minister Marc Lalonde, and as an adviser to various other politicians at all levels of government in Canada.
A frequent commentator on Canadian politics and public policy, Mahoney is a former president of the Ontario Liberal Party and he spent seven years as a weekly panelist on TVOntario’s award-winning program, Studio 2. He has appeared frequently on various other media such as CTV, CBC, Newsworld, Radio-Canada, and in the Globe and Mail.
